INTERVIEW – ART BY JUDITH
How are you doing
lately?
All
is well, New Year pressure and all
What school did
you attend and what did you study?
I
studied Computer Science at FTMS College, Malaysia
Do you remember
the first job you had?
Yes
I do, I had just started the sip and paint business, I wasn’t interested in
making any sort of gain yet. My priority was to sell an Idea. I organized my
first sip and paint with my close friends. That was around September 2021.
When did your love
for Art begin?
My
love for Art started at the age of 5, I loved to draw on the walls and books.
So why did you
decide to study Computer science when the love for Art has been there since age
5?
I
already have a Diploma fine arts, I wanted to try something outside arts. I
believe I can excel in art with or without a degree certificate
What do you love
the most about Art?
Just
the fact it is something I can do with ease and it soothes my mood too.
Can you describe
your creative process?
I
don’t have a particular process to creativity, art itself is a form of
expressing what we feel. My creating process which includes, choice of color or
design is based on what or how I feel at that point.
Is it correct to
say that your emotions inspires you as an artist?
Yes
it is
Can you mention 3
of your Artistic Influences?
My
3 Artistic influences would be Laolu, ceracerni and kennwadiogbu
With AI getting so
popular in different fields, what effect do you think AI will have on Art
creation and consumption?
Well
it changes the original man-made form of art. AI enhances every aspect of an artistic
journey. For instance getting or generating an Idea. It allows an artist have
access to vast amount of data that may inspire his designs or masterpiece. So
I’ll say it’s an added advantage to art.
In what ways do
you think Art is important to the society?
Art
is very crucial to human life and existence, it offers lots of benefits that
directly impact our mental, physical and emotional wellness.
Just
like I mentioned earlier, art is connected to our feelings and emotions. It’s a
powerful medium to express and communicate intricate emotions that may not
require verbal communication. Whether it’s through painting, sculptor, textile
or music, art is a unique way for people to convey their deepest feelings.
Arts
boosts creativity that contributes to innovative thinking and nurtures
problem-solving skills.
Another
importance art has to the society is the role it plays when it comes to
cultural, tradition and history preservation. Traditional visual art forms can
be passed down from one generation to another. This ensures perpetuation of
rich heritage and culture.
What would you say
has been the most difficult thing for you with regards to building a career in
Art in Nigeria?
I
won’t say it’s most difficult, though there are certain challenges that artists
face especially when it comes to the value for art in this part of the world.
Regardless,
when you know your onions and charge your worth, you’ll definitely attract the
right Audience.
